Maintenance Training Program
The Facilities Maintenance Training
Program is a 6-month long program designed for non-native speakers of English
who are interested in a career as a maintenance worker. It teaches the fundamentals
of carpentry, plumbing, painting, electricity, appliance repair, and cleaning plus English, math, and basic
computers. The course includes a five-week internship.
ASCENT (Accounting Skills, Computer and English Training)
The ASCENT
is a 6-month-long job training program for intermediate to high level ESL students
to prepare them for a clerical or administrative position. Students will learn
basic computers, accounting, business ESL and job readiness skills. The course
includes a five-week internship.
Partnership
for Automotive Career Education
The Partnership for Automotive Career education (PACE) is a job training program for automotive technicians. PAE is a collaboration of educational institutions, community agencies, and employer partners committed to training and placing entry-level technicians in automotive jobs in the Boston area. With funding provided by SkillWorks and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, student involvement in the program spans three years starting with 12 months of technical and job readiness trainings provided through Ben Franklin Institute of Technology. Students learn the fundamentals of automotive maintenance, workplace safety, vocational English, math, basic computers, workplace communications, and job search skills.
Tufts Medical Center Workplace Education
AACA is providing educational courses for Tufts Medical Center. Classes in English for Speakers of Other Languages and GED preparation are being given to entry-level workers, particularly in housekeeping and food services. The staff participating are interested in learning and growing professionally.
Boston Adult Self-Sufficiency Project (BASS)
The Boston Adult Self-Sufficiency Project (BASS) offers computer training
and resume workshops on Mondays. In the computer workshop, students learn
basic computer skills, including MSWord, searching for a job, and Internet
skills. In the resume workshop, students will create a resume with teacher
assistance in 5 weeks. Boston residents preferred.
Quincy Career Center
The Asian Access Project is a program funded by the U.S Department of Labor in collaboration with the Quincy Career Center. The goal is to assist the Asian residents of the south coastal area to make use of the resources provided by the Quincy Career Center. Trilingual career advisor from AACA helps Asian clients to gain access of the services of the career center.
