One week last summer, the preschoolers at Buds & Blossoms immersed themselves in exploring the ocean and the animals that live in the ocean. They listened to the sounds of the ocean through the seashells, touched the different textures of other creatures, and examined their shapes and colors. They asked questions: how turtles swim, how shells protect crustaceans, and how the fish, shrimps, and crabs live in the water.
Buds & Blossoms is a Reggio Emilia–Inspired Mandarin Immersion Childcare Center. We believe that “children have a hundred languages, a hundred hands, a hundred thoughts, a hundred ways of thinking, playing, and speaking” through play, drawing, building, music, light-play, and communicating. Children can engage in long-term projects that allow them sufficient time to question. Open-ended questions lead to the fun process of discovery.
Buds & Blossoms is a child-led learning environment. Children develop confidence to ask questions, independence in making choices, empathy and teamwork with peers, and a growing sense of belonging as their thinking is valued and celebrated.
